We were so happy to see Christian Eriksen back playing football again with Brentford. Following his on-pitch cardiac arrest Christian has been fitted with a small device, an ICD, which monitors his heart rhythm and should he have another cardiac arrest this device will deliver a shock to restart his heart.
We are delighted to have teamed up with a company offering CPR (basic life support) and AED (automatic external defibrillator) training. The courses aim to give people the skills and confidence to perform basic life support and use an AED until professional help arrives. The courses consist of lectures and practical sessions and are being offered to schools, colleges, businesses, sports clubs, communities or any groups interested in learning this vital skill. We are also offering them as an additional service to our sports screening service.

For the last few months we have been working with some very special people on a new project called ToBe Heartsafe.
ToBe Heartsafe is a not for profit organisation which has been set up to provide, through the generosity of others, sports screening, life support training and AEDs to schools, clubs and other institutions who would otherwise not be able to afford them.
ToBe Heartsafe was born out of the tragic death of a young man, Toby (known as Tobes), from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). His death brought together a group of 5 people including Sam Mohiddin and Caroline Westgate from The Cardiovascular Diagnostic Centre who have formed ToBe Heartsafe.
Our website is about to launched and details of the website and how to contact us will be available here.
If you would like to learn more about Tobes, his mother Sam spoke about his death to The British Heart Foundation (https://www.bhf.org.uk news archive) and to the Daily Mail (https://dailymail.co.uk > you > article-9622127).
Sam also made a film for the BBC - Sudden Death: My Sister's Silent Killer. This is available to watch on BBC i Player (date 14th April 2021)
